Groner pleads guilty

CASSOPOLIS – Former Dowagiac funeral director David Groner, 66, of 208 Michigan Ave., Tuesday pleaded guilty as charged to all underlying charges pending against him and arising from alleged criminal activity at his home on Oct. 27, according to Cass County Prosecutor Victor Fitz:

• Possession of methamphetamine, habitual offender second, a felony with a 15-year maximum penalty.

• Maintaining a drug house, habitual offender second, a high court misdemeanor punishable by three years maximum.

• Possession of marijuana, a one-year misdemeanor.

Fitz said an habitual offender, third offense notice, placing the maximum penalty at 20 years, was dismissed pursuant to a plea agreement.

The plea took place at 2:30 p.m. Nov. 10 before Cass County Judge Stacey Rentfrow.
Sentencing by Circuit Judge Michael Dodge will be scheduled in the near future.

  1. My heart goes out to any one that gets caught up in, drugs,and law violations that goes along with them. It is a disease and hard to over come.I pray that God will take the problems away.
