Carl’s life began on Jan. 16, 1942, in Lansing, the son of Cloyce and Edna Tarrant.

He retired from General Motors as a millwright at the Oldsmobile plant in Lansing for more than 38 years.

Carl was a member of the Dowagiac Church of Christ.

He enjoyed riding motorcycles and especially his Gold Wing.

He was a member of several motorcycle clubs, taught motorcycle safety and helped develop motorcycle safety training courses for the State of Michigan.

Carl contributed to the safety manual used by Michigan in teaching motorcycle safety.
He was also involved in karate and had been a karate instructor for several years, even having worked out with Chuck Norris. He was also a cancer survivor.

Carl’s loving family includes: his daughter, Brenda Kenreich of Niles; son, David Tarrant of Arizona; grandchildren, Heidi Zambrano and Jason Balke; great-grandson, Ethan Kelly; a sister, Sharon Rossow of Lansing; a brother, Doug (Barb) Rossow of Bath; and several nieces and nephews.

Carl passed away suddenly last Wednesday, July 7, 2010, as a result of being struck on his motorcycle while riding with his friend Tony Bush, who also was killed in the accident.

His family and the friends of Tony Bush will receive friends on Friday, ,July 16, from 5 to 8 p.m. for a joint visitation at Yazel and Clark Chapel, where their joint funeral service will be on Saturday, July 17, at 11 a.m. led by Minister Bill Gibson of Dowagiac Church of Christ.

Carl will be laid to rest in Lakeside Cemetery in Lakeside following a motorcycle procession from the funeral home to the cemetery.

Tony Bush will be laid to rest at Fort Custer National Cemetery on Monday, July 19.
